First Set Of Games Going Out Next Week
over 10 years ago – Wed, Jul 30, 2014 at 06:51:02 PM

TL;DR - We are going to be sending the games out in two chunks. If you want your games on the sooner chunk, please make sure you’ve settled up on shipping/balance and that we have your info (including phone number for physical games) by Friday.

Long Version…

I’ve spoken to the shipper, and they’re willing to send out the games in two chunks. This is very nice of them — they don’t have to do it, and are making an exception to what was agreed (that they’d ship everything at once).

The initial cutoff will be end of day this Friday. I’ll be doing a data dump and sending them the file on Monday; that set of games should go out next week.  They estimate about 48 hours from receipt to process the orders.  US orders take on average 6-10 days to get to their destination, and Canadian and international take 10-21 days on average.

This first batch will be people who we have all their info for and have settled up for shipping (if needed).

If you’d like to get your game(s) shipped in the first batch, please make sure you:

1. Visit BackerKit if you haven’t already — BackerKit link

2. We have your phone number if you are getting physical copies of the game. If you already went to BackerKit, but didn’t give us your phone number:

-Go to BackerKit
-“Edit Pledge”
-It should prompt you with a question about your phone number if you’re getting physical copies of the game.

3. You’ve settled up on shipping. Most tiers were $3.50 or $5 additional shipping (US/Canada and international respectively).

-International and Canadian backers, BackerKit will prompt you to make up any shipping.
-US backers, there’s a “Forgot Shipping” add-on for $3.50 if you didn’t include it initially. You can also use tips if your shipping is another amount.

4. You’ve zeroed out any balance. If you included more funds than the pledge and shipping, or you’re a US backer who initially included shipping with your pledge (good job!), then please make sure you zero out your balance. You can do it with the “Forgot Shipping” add-on or tips, but your balance should get to zero at the end/any additional charges.

Again, cutoff will be EOD Friday. The shipper will get a list Monday, and the giclee/signed deck process will start then as well for people who get their info in on time and settle up on shipping.

If you miss that cutoff, you will have to wait, and get lumped together in a slowpoke batch of games to come later. That will be when a majority of the folks who owe info/shipping get current.  If that process takes too long, we will not be able to go with the fulfillment house, and you may wind up owing more for shipping.

A Word Of Thanks

Thank you for supporting Wands and Kickstarter.  Without you backers, we wouldn't have been able to complete the first printing of the game and get it out there.

I'd also like to thank you for your continued patience as we iron out the kinks and finalize getting you the games.

Answering Questions/Comments On Shipping
over 10 years ago – Wed, Jul 30, 2014 at 09:07:59 AM

Since there were a few comments, I thought I'd address them here.

BackerKit link - if you need it...

I understand that people would like to get their copies of the game.  I'd like to send them to you.

The estimated delivery date is exactly that -- an estimation. We did not guarantee delivery by then.  The reason Kickstarter has an estimated delivery date is the same reason why almost every movie, construction project, or software project goes over time (and budget), project management is complicated, and things happen that result in delays.

The good news is, the games are printed.  They look great.  And they're ready to go out on our end.

For your guys' reference, we have something like 660 copies of the game to send out to 500+ people.  That's a lot of games and a lot of orders.

It would take me a very long time to pack and ship all the orders myself.  So I am paying someone to fulfill the project for me.  That's my choice, and I choose to spend money rather than time.  In the long run, that will result in the games going out much faster.

We can only ship out around 2/3 of the orders right now.  1/3 didn't fill in a phone number.  We can't ship any foreign orders without a phone number.  And there are two-dozen-plus folks who ordered physical copies of the game who didn't visit BackerKit at all.

To go over the shipping costs issue again...  Nobody has to pay any more money for shipping.  Although we underestimated shipping by a lot (~$2,000), I am making up the difference for everybody, to the tune of $1.50-$7+ for a single copy of the game.  I know, I'm a sweetheart :)

So all anyone has to do is make sure they've:

1) Filled in BackerKit
2) You've paid what you owe, if any, for shipping (meaning you kicked in the $3.50 or $5.00 or whatever with your initial pledge, or you make it up on BackerKit)
3) We have your phone number if you're getting physical copies of the game

The shipper gave us a good deal on postage and fulfillment because they're going to take a couple of hours and have their system print out labels for everybody and then they're going to pack and ship all the orders at once.  They obviously can't do that if we don't have any info on 28 people and we don't have phone numbers for 167.

That's not the shipper's fault; and I've done many updates, sent out a lot of email reminders, etc.  I've been banging the drum for people to give me their info.

There are also quite a few people who still owe their shipping.  As I've mentioned, I feel like I've been generous in making up the shipping difference.  I don't really want to eat another $3.50 or $5 for people who forgot to include anything for shipping when they pledged (and we probably don't have a phone number anyway).

There will be a cutoff at some point.  It's not going to be August 1st, as we still have a lot of folks who owe us information.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

BackerKit Update
over 10 years ago – Tue, Jul 29, 2014 at 04:51:48 AM

Here's where we stand.  The shipper's expecting to receive the cards tomorrow.

28 people who are getting physical cards haven't visited BackerKit at all. Meaning they haven't given their phone number or checked to make sure they don't still owe for shipping and/or have zeroed out their balances.  Those people will be getting yet another BackerKit email reminder/invite.

On BackerKit, 327 out of 494 folks getting physical copies of the game have given their phone number.  167 people still haven't.

That's a lot of folks.  Part of the deal the shipper is giving us on fulfillment and postage is because they can have their workers ship everything out at once.  Over a third of the orders can't go out right now.  Unfortunately, that's going to result in none of the orders going out right now.

BackerKit link

So, please make sure:

1. You've filled out your info on BackerKit if you haven't already.

2. You've settled up for shipping.  If you're a Canadian or international backer, it will prompt you to make up any difference.  If you included it in your original pledge, awesome!

If you're a US backer, you can see what shipping was.  It was $3.50 on almost every tier.  In other words, if your pledge level was $15, you'd owe $18.50 total.  There's a "Forgot Shipping" add-on for $3.50 if you need it.

3. For everybody, you will need to zero out your balance.  For example, if you'd included $3.50 as a US backer at the $15 tier, you'll have a $3.50 balance.  You can zero it out by buying a "Forgot Shipping" add-on, or you can do it with tips.  It doesn't really matter, as long as you zero it out.

4. We need your phone number.  If you haven't visited BackerKit, it will prompt you with a question.  If you already visited BackerKit pre-phone number question, please visit again, click "Edit Pledge," and it will ask you for your phone number there.

5. Print 'n' Play will be distributed via BackerKit once we're ready to ship.  Games are going to get shipped out then as well, along with giclees (coming separately) and signed copies of the game (also coming separately).

Games are ready to go out, so we're just waiting on you folks to get us your information.  The sooner we get it, the sooner you can enjoy Wands!

Cards Went Out To Shippers
over 10 years ago – Sun, Jul 27, 2014 at 10:15:50 PM

Cartons were picked up late this afternoon.  They should get to the shipper by Wednesday.

There are still 44 people who have not filled in BackerKit at all.  If you don't do that, it's going to delay you getting your cards.  I may not have your address, don't have your phone number, and you quite possibly owe me shipping.  That makes it hard to send you your games :)

BackerKit link

Everybody getting physical cards, please make sure:

1. You have completed BackerKit.
2. I have your phone number.
If you already filled out BackerKit, return, "Edit Pledge" and answer the phone number question.
If you didn't already fill out BackerKit, it will ask you for your phone number.
3. You have settled up for shipping.
Canadian and international backers -- it will prompt you to make up the difference, if any.
US backers, you will need to add shipping if you didn't originally include it in your Kickstarter pledge.  It's $3.50 at almost every level.  You can add on a $3.50 "Forgot shipping" if need be.
Everyone, you will need to zero out any credits you have remaining.  You can do that with tips, or with "Forgot shipping" add-on(s) -- it doesn't really matter as long as it zeroes out.

Thanks!

Another Shipping Update
over 10 years ago – Wed, Jul 23, 2014 at 11:36:18 AM

Some clarity on the phone number issue, since this was very confusing -- to me, too :)

All backers getting physical copies of the game, please make sure you visit BackerKit -- link below -- and add in your phone number.  This goes for everyone, US, Canadian, international -- who is getting a physical copy of the game.

Process:

1. Go to BackerKit.
2. Log in if needed.
3. Edit Pledge Level.
4. Put in your phone number, including area code and country code (if outside the US/Canada).

The question/prompt should also hopefully be clearer now, and not add example phone numbers in.

BackerKit link

If you haven't visited BackerKit at all, please make sure you do.  In addition to adding in your phone number, please make sure to settle up for missed shipping.  Again, Canada and international backers, BackerKit will prompt you to make up any difference.

US backers, you'll need to include shipping if you forgot it (it's most likely $3.50).  There's an add-on to do that.

Everyone will need to zero out their balance (if you have a credit).  If you already pledged shipping for the US for example, you can add on the forgot shipping anyway to zero it out.  And there are various tip jars in increments from $.50 to $5.00 in case you have weird amounts left over.

There are still 46 people who have not filled out BackerKit at all, most of those are getting physical copies of the game, and that will hold up shipping out rewards to folks.  So please head to BackerKit and fill it out!

Shipping Update

The shippers tell me that expected delivery times are on average 6-10 days from shipping US and 10-21 days from shipping international.  That is from when the items leave their facility.  It generally takes about 48 hours to process everything once the shipper receives a final list of backers and addresses and phone numbers.

As mentioned, I will be getting the games picked up very shortly and sent to the shipping facility.  And I'll post a brief update on that once that happens.  Once again, items going out will depend on getting everyone to visit BackerKit, fill in their info, and make up any missed shipping or zero out their balances.
